Manufacturing Engineer

The newly-created position of manufacturing engineer is the liaison between the design engineers and our production teams. The engineer will be reporting directly to our plant manager, and is expected to work with the design teams on newly created products, propose changes to existing products to improve their manufacturability and cost, and be in charge of proper communication with all stakeholders, including purchasing, production planning, the shop floor and finance teams.

Essential Functions:

In order to work effectively as a manufacturing engineer, the position is expected to:

Collaborate with design engineering

  • Provide manufacturability input (“Design-to-Manufacture) to hardware and software design team

  • Reduce manufacturing costs through Design-to-Cost input to R&D teams

  • Determine priorities for manufacturability initiatives

  • Work with our Suppliers to make design or process improvements that reduce cost or improve quality

Drive manufacturing process improvements

  • Create manufacturing work instructions

  • Work with Supply Chain on cost-reduction projects including Lean/Six-Sigma initiatives

  • Responsibility for change orders to the manufacturing process

Serve as an in-house expert for the product and its configuration

  • Deep understanding of the product and its use

  • Drive configuration rules

Required Knowledge and Skills:

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Minimum Lean / Six-Sigma green-belt

  • 3 years of experience with Engineering / Manufacturing Documentation requirements.

  • ERP experience and knowledge

  • Strong communication and project lead skills.

  • Experienced in troubleshooting and resolving issues in collaboration with geographically dispersed teams and outsourced service providers.

  • Proficient in German and English

Work Conditions:

Occasional work outside normal business hours
