Chief Engineer, Systems Design GAMA

The Chief Systems Engineer is responsible for leading the creation of market driven medication management system (complex hardware and software) solutions for the GAMA (Global Automation and Medication Adherence) Business Unit. The Chief Systems Engineer will work closely with engineering, product management, and program management functions throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure that GAMA products meet overall system objectives. This position is an engineering leadership role and reports directly to the Vice President of GAMA R&D.Responsibilities:

  • Establish and oversee best practices and methodologies for systems engineering across various product lines

  • Drive collaboration between various product development functions through a practical systems engineering process throughout the product development lifecycle.

  • Lead key projects as Lead Systems Engineer for intelligent integrated solutions that need technologies that span Robotics and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, and associated Software/Hardware subsystems.

  • Ensure optimal solutions are developed that have significant integration complexity and optimization of multiple system attributes including system performance, functionality, project cost, schedule, risk, COGS, supportability, serviceability, interoperability, maintainability, quality/reliability, manufacturability, usability, installability, configurability, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensure control of the all GAMA products over the life cycle (Risk Management, Metrics Management, Technical Review, Configuration Management, Process Control, Installation, Service and Post Market Reliability)

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated ability to practically apply Systems Engineering frameworks and best practices to product development

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Reliability Engineering and DfX (Design for Six Sigma) processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a broad spectrum of individuals, teams, and functions to drive effective collaboration and results.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to cascade information, influence decisions, and align team members and executives.

  • Candidate needs to be self-motivated and be able to determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering/Information Technology/ Computer Science

  • 10 years + of combined experience in developing complex HW/SW systems.

  • Hand-on experience with design, development, validation, and installation of complex systems involving the integration of hardware, software, and firmware.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • MS/PhD in Engineering/ Information Technology/ Computer Science

  • Familiarity with data analysis, statistics, and machine learning techniques highly desired.

  • Experience developing Cloud Enabled and Networked System of Systems (comprising of multiple disparate Edge Devices).

  • Subject Matter Expertise and strong experience in developing complex Robotics and Automation systems that have and intensive AI/Machine Learning and software element.

  • Office environment

  • Up to 25% travel may be required to customer sites and corporate locations
