Engineer III - Mechanical Design
Provides efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, autonomously develops assigned projects to meet organizational needs and to capitalize on potential new products. Evaluates and resolves technical feasibility, design optimization, and production issues. Reports to R&D Mechanical manager, collaborates with Engineering, Manufacturing, Support and Quality.
Responsible of creative development of components, mechanisms, subsystems and finished products.
May be requested to analyze technology, resource needs and market demand and assess project feasibility.
Provides technical expertise on a day-to-day basis to the team, assuring that results deliver quality and value for our customers.
Develops quality mechanical designs that are reliable and maintainable.
Ensures that labeling and marketing/promotional literature match product specifications.
Supports manufacturing and service departments for the implementation of engineering changes.
Works with the team to develop and implement best-in-class design practices, assuring the safety and efficacy of the resulting products.
Collaborates directly with Manufacturing to collect improvements to include the design documentation for industrialization.
Collaborates with Manufacturing on special assembly procedure.
Collaborates with Training to create documentation about mechanical setting, troubleshooting and maintenance for critical subsystem of the device.
Researches and monitors existing client base and industry developments and identifies potential new features.
Services and maintains R&D devices and equipment.
Designs and conducts test procedures.
Attends meetings, writes reports and gives presentations to managers.
Provide Help Desk third level support for critical subsystem, reporting issues and investigation to manager
Verify all the mechanical output documentation for manufacturing transfer.
Supports purchasing department in selection of suppliers and liaising directly with suppliers to find best technical solutions.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience is required
5+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering, including several years developing
IT skills, particularly computer-aided design using solid modeling and mechanical analysis (CAD) software.
Excellent mechanical drafting skills
Experience with international product standards affecting mechanical designs
Experience with Injection Molding and Plastic Forming materials and process capabilities
Knowledge of metal forming and machining materials and process capabilities
Experience with technical documentation standards, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Demonstrable knowledge of Quality Management Systems and design control process
Ability to work cross-functionally
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
Organizational skills, such as time and resource planning
An ability to work as a part of a team (team player)
Good human relations, motivational and communication techniques
Good English proficiency
Ability to read, analyze technical procedures
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers or managers
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Experience with machine vision and efficient light sources
Experience working with outsourced development partners
Experience with quick-turn fabrication processes
Experience in product design for Reliability, Serviceability and Maintainability
Experience with automated testing
Experience with formal Risk Management processes and standards
Agile project planning
Experience with regulated medical devices, ISO 13845 Quality Management Systems and FDA QSR.
