The job function of theSr. Commodity Manager, Global Logisticsis to be the primary point of contact between Omnicell and our logistic (external packaging, transportation, warehousing and distribution) suppliers. TheSr. Commodity Manager, Global Logisticsis responsible for the logistics strategy, planning and coordinating all aspects of the relationship with the assigned suppliers, and for leading supplier-related projects as assigned in the areas of the assigned commodity role.
In order to work effectively as aSr. Commodity Manager,Global Logisticsthe position is expected to:
Reportingto the VP Global Supply Chain the Sr. Commodity Manger, Global Logistics will work with assigned logistics suppliers on continuous improvement in the areas of quality, cost, inventory, delivery and support. Act as the primary point of contact with assigned suppliers, managing overall supplier relationship.
Scope:Spend - >$20M annually; Technical Complexity - High; Supply Base Complexity – Medium; Business GM Impact - >$250K annually.
Commodity:Maintain knowledge of global logistics market trends including analysis of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements, new products, benchmarks and end-of-life plans.
Contracts:Leads supply chain contract development and negotiation with logistics suppliers. Act as the primary point of contact with assigned suppliers, responsible for ensuring that all issues are resolved in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with all Terms and Conditions of the logistics.
Sourcing:Identify new sources of supply, evaluate new suppliers, and perform pre-assessment and any follow-up activities required for supplier qualification to develop a supplier base sufficiently robust to meet the changing business requirements (acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources).
Supply Base:Uses inputs from internal Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Reverse Logistics, Service and Business leaders to develop commodity strategy to identify long term supply/supplier alignment for OMCL’s global operations. Ensure a competitive sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in quality, cost, inventory, service and technology among our supplier base. Cultivate appropriate partnerships relationships built on defined business objectives as required.
NPI:Provide NPI Project management for Supply Chain and coordinate with various OMCL teams to introduce new logistic products. Responsible for interfacing with multiple OMCL manufacturing sites and global teams that include Marketing, Sales, HWE, SWE, Manufacturing Engineering, Reverse Logistics, Service and Field Operations on new products as well as sustaining projects for the purpose of defining the supply chain sourcing strategy, developing appropriate risk mitigation strategies, execution of supply chain activities, tracking of deliverables, cost estimates for new products. Facilitate supplier involvement in NPI, Supplier and Manufacturing projects, as needed.
Realization:Collaborates with multiple, site-specific teams (Manufacturing Project Managers, local Logistics, Purchasing and Planning) to ensure Product Development Plan and Manufacturing/Supply Chain requirements are met.Create policies and procedures for logistics activities. Assure accurate data in ERP systems for all released products, compliance for all commodity Import/Export requirements and certifications.
Forecasts:Manage forecasts and customer demand for the logistic products across multiple plants and regions, via collaboration and guidance of appropriate commodity buyers, MFG leaders and Reverse Logistics Service teams. Ensures commodity capacity, inventory, risk mitigation action and deliveries support achieving business objectives. Understands customer requirements and supply base capability to improve accuracy of supply commitments. Also ensures that all data within ERP system(s) are correct, as required. This will include supplier info, lead-time, pricing, etc.
Service:In conjunction with Reverse Logistics, incorporate needs into global negotiations (both in-warranty and post-warranty) for logistics products throughout the defined service life. Collaborate with the Service team in optimizing the service strategy. Can include stocking plans and negotiation with supplier for vendor-held inventory.
Performance:Establish standard processes for collecting commodity information from each OMCL Factory. Monitor supplier performance, quality, cost, inventory and work with appropriate parties to ensure contract compliance, accountability and resolve any related issues. Generates supplier scorecard metrics and initiate Quarterly Business Review (QDCS) agenda items. Supports systemic supplier accountability with local Logistics, Purchasing and Planning teams.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrated strong capability to drive change via collaboration across organizational levels, global geography and business entities
Strong understanding of current global logistic trends, markets, and price indexing, with in-depth knowledge of Domestic and International global logistic suppliers
Professional communication and collaborating behaviors that enable a strong Supplier Relationship Management process
BS/BA in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Materials Management, Engineering or Technical Studies
5 or more years of demonstrated work experience in a Global Logistics (external packaging, transportation, warehousing and distribution) role at a management level
Quality Management Systems and Supplier Application
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
APICS or CPM
10+ years Supply Chain or Global Logistics experience
SAP Materials Module
Medium travel (25%, includes international)
Extended or irregular work hours.
